As a relative newcomer to civic, grassroots activism, I was surely impressed with the turnout at Harewood’s Towne Hall Meeting.

The Meeting was sponsored by the Harewood Neighbourhood Association and the Harewood Community Centre Cooperative.

In breifly summarizing what I observed, I witnessed indivuals from different interest groups and community members speak out on whats going on in our community and what some offer as legitimate concerns in the area too. We had presentations from the developers of what used to be Harewood Mall, the representatives from VIU, and rep’s from a handful of government agencies that are within our community that offer services to children, families and students.

I hope the next meeting is just as well attended too.
